Hi, my name is Ceaser M. Williams III—you can call me Trey. I’m a writer, editor, culture obsessive, journalist, and media and communications consultant. Welcome to my website.

I’m down to talk freelance and consulting opportunities.

I’m based in Harlem, New York. But my words, and the stories in my head, take me everywhere.

As the son of two award-winning journalists, I’ve been telling stories long before I could write a sentence. I hold a degree in journalism as well as broadcast and mass communications. My work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The Hollywood Reporter, Fortune Magazine, The Kansas City Star, and a number of other renowned publications.

Journalist

I began my professional journalism career in finance covering fintech companies and the media and entertainment landscape. I’ve reported on mergers and acquisitions, succession drama, appeared on camera talking about fiscal earnings, and written deeply about culture, race and equity, film and Hollywood, work-life balance, and the world at large.

Editor

I’ve been a skilled people manager and leader, overseeing a team of journalists covering both breaking news and culture and race and equity issues. As a manager and editor I’ve assigned and developed story ideas, assisted in reporting and information gathering, and taken the lead on copy and story editing to see projects through from beginning to end while improving reporters’ skills.

Consulting

I’ve consulted on media and content strategy for brands and organizations preparing to bring new product to market, as well as for public relations and crisis communications. I’ve helped firms navigate the changing media landscape and develop innovative strategy for capturing audiences.

I am currently working on my first book, “On a Street Corner in Nairobi,” a generational memoir about grief, anxiety, fatherhood, blackness, and what it means to understand and honor a history when you’re fearful of repeating its ills, and desperate to write a story that is wholly your own.
